Meow Meow Tweet Skincare Review: The Best Zero Waste Brand!

Sharing is caring!

This small batch cosmetic company might have a quirky name, but this Meow Meow Tweet skincare review reveals why it’s the best zero waste cosmetics brand! And not just for their fun branding.

Even into college, I suffered from acne. And not just a zit here and there…numerous, painful, inflamed acne. It was caused by hormone imbalance and stress.

My poor skincare routine didn’t help, either. When I started my zero waste journey, I assumed I’d have acne-covered skin for the rest of my life.

Could zero waste skincare really help my skin? I’m here to tell you it is possible to have the best skin of your life while also being zero waste! I’ve tried many brands and products.

Today I’m breaking down one brand’s products. Hopefully, this Meow Meow Tweet skincare review will help you with your zero waste and skincare journey.

My family never really taught me the best skincare practices. I seriously didn’t know the importance of moisturizer or what a toner was until last year. Now I realize a complete skincare regiment is vital to beautiful skin.

Additionally, I’d like to mention that no one should feel ashamed for zits. They are a natural bodily response. While my skin is much better than previously, I still get the occasional zit. I don’t cover it up and I still walk with confidence because acne is normal. I wish someone had told me I could be confident with acne when I was younger, so I’m telling you now.

Meow Meow Tweet Skincare Review: Meet the Brand

Meow Meow Tweet is one of the most socially conscious brands on the market.

A chef founded the small business and carried her appreciation for quality ingredients into the cosmetics brand. They treat each product as they would a culinary dish, to ensure it is of the highest quality and is equally stimulating via scent, sight, and smell.

The brand hopes their quality products encourage small lifestyle changes in its customers so that they become more eco-conscious. That’s what I’m all about!

Meow Meow Tweet also follows a repurpose manifesto for all their products. They don’t want you to buy ten products for ten purposes; the small business wants you to buy a few products for many purposes!

And it’s true. I’ve used my face oil on my scalp to combat dry skin and dandruff. Their repair balm is great for chapped lips, cracked hands, or peeling cuticles. I’ve heard it also works well for under-eye tiredness, tattoos, and sunburns.

MMT also donates a minimum of 1% of sales every month to organizations helping the planet, animals, and social justice issues. They rotate organizations to better respond to urgent needs.

Since transparency is a fundamental component of the business, MMT updates this blog post monthly to reveal who they’re donating to. They’ve donated to organizations combatting the Australian wildfires, Black Lives Matter organizations and bail-outs, ensuring safe drinking water in Indigenous communities, planting trees, and many more. Packaging & Shipping

Initially, I purchased a Meow Meow Tweet skincare product from Package Free Shop. This zero waste store ensures there is no packaging on any products, so when I received the Meow Meow Tweet deodorant (which you can read about here) it was 100% package free.

Later, when I was getting ready for this Meow Meow Tweet skincare review, I purchased the products directly from their website.

This is actually ideal, in my opinion, because you can purchase trial sizes of the skincare products. The trial sizes are significantly cheaper and provide enough product for about a month of usage. Unfortunately, the Tea Tree Charcoal Facial Bar does not have a trial option.

All products are wrapped in either paper or stored in glass.

The Tea Tree Charcoal facial bar comes with a paper “box” for shipment. Ideally, bar products would come in zero packaging. At least Meow Meow Tweet ensures the paper packaging is easily recyclable or compostable.

Many products stored in glass containers can be refilled with MMT’s bulk products as part of their refill program. For now, only the most popular products have the bulk size/refill option, but the owners of the brand say they’re slowly working to expand the program.

I have more patience with their slow expansion of the refill program since the small business is a small-batch cosmetic company. They don’t have machines to produce tons of the product at once! Any expansion of their company, whether that’s offering more products or more bulk options, would require expansion of their workspace, more growing space for more plants, and more storage space.

Since the business is transparent in everything else, I trust that Meow Meow Tweet is working to expand their refill option. Plus, most cosmetic companies don’t have a refill program, so they’re already above the rest.

Tea Tree Charcoal Facial Bar

This facial bar is absolutely the best cleanser for any traveler prone to acne.

Since the product comes as a bar, travelers can easily take this around the world with them. You never have to worry about liquid sizes!

The bar lasts a long time, too. I washed my face every day with this bar for about six months!

Every single product has a quick guide online describing the ingredients, use, and how to properly dispose of the packaging. I love how simple they make it to figure out which products are right for you!

To apply, wet the bar and your face then rub the bar directly on your face. I like to rub it in circles around my entire face once. Although your face won’t appear very sudsy, once you start massaging the soap with clean fingers, the soap with become more foamy.

You aren’t scrubbing your face clean, so don’t be aggressive. I like to rub my fingers in a circular motion over my face a few times to massage in the soap before rinsing the soap off with water. To finish, I pat my face dry with a clean wash cloth.

Although this Meow Meow Tweet skincare review only looks at the facial bar, I suggest you look at the other available skincare products to finish off your skincare routine. You’ll likely need a toner and oil to ensure your skincare routine is perfect!
